Student Learning Outcomes:
- Written Communications:
Students should be able to create clear, concise, well organized written business documents such as memos, reports, and executive summaries that can be used in an effective manner. This assumes the ability to conduct research appropriate to the task at hand.
- Oral Communications:
Students should be able to create and effectively deliver oral presentations that are concise and informative. This assumes the ability to conduct research appropriate to the task at hand.
- Adaptability to Change:
Students should be prepared in such a way that they have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances both internal and external to the organization. Further, they should be able to manage the change process through an awareness of the enablers and inhibitors of change in organizations.
- Computer Skills:
Students should be proficient in the use of business application software. They should be able to effectively use specialized software associated with their specific disciplines.
- Teamwork and Diversity:
Students should be able to recognize and appreciate contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds and be able to contribute to the effective functioning of cross-disciplinary teams. This assumes demonstration of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams of diverse composition.
- Critical Thinking Skills:
Students should be able to perceive relationships not immediately apparent in a problem situation and to develop innovative solutions to such unstructured problems. In developing these solutions, students should be able to identify and employ the appropriate research and technical skills.
- Competency in One’s Discipline:
Students should be able to apply currently accepted theories and methods to the solution of common types of problems related to their academic field of study.
- Global Perspectives:
Students should be able to understand global dimensions of business, including socio-cultural, political-legal, technological and economic environments.
- Ethical Reasoning Skills:
Students should be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of legal and ethical situations in business and recommend practical applications for managers and public policy makers.
